Crafting a Business

I have always been “crafty”. I’m left-handed and in some circles that means I’m right-brained. In this case, I do think it is true. I am both creative and analytical but my creativity is more dominant.

Since Pinterest has come about, my crafting has gone to a new level. I absolutely love being inspired by people. I put a simple term or phrase into the search bar and “go down the rabbit hole” looking at everyone’s creations or solutions.

What I love about myself, wow that’s weird to say, is that I can see someone’s answer to my question or several answers and I can add, subtract, and/or mix what I see into something I want to create.

ADHD + Creativity

But I also have ADHD, so everything I see my brain says, “I can make that.” Sometimes I already have the skills to make it and other times I hyperfocus to learn the skills to make it. Once I make it, I’m done. My craft room is a very typical ADHD graveyard of all the craft supplies that I needed to make that one thing I wanted. Although there are some items that I feel as though I could make and sell.

And here lies the 3rd part of this long winded story. I have wanted to share my crafts with others. I want to make enough money to cover my craft habit. Boy, do I sound like an addict or what!? Now as I look at what I want my life to be like in 15 years, I want to work for myself. To provide for my family. Craft all the things, all winter long because it’s too cold to go outside. And pack it all up, hop in the RV, and travel when the weather is nice and fulfill orders from the road.

Sunflower Studio

So as part of my next 15 levels, I am officially debuting Sunflower Studios. It will be an eclectic collection of items I craft. This is going to be quite the adventure!
