No rest for the wicked with house projects

Do you ever get frustrated or annoyed when projects take longer than anticipated? I’m annoyed that we have had 4 days since the start of June with a high temperature less than 90 degrees! Working on any project outside takes an incredible amount of willpower.

I need to sand and prime the window frames but I have to want to sweat to do it. I just don’t want to right now. But there is never a shortage of tasks to be done around the house.

What is there to do instead of work outside?

I was cleaning the shower last weekend. We have hard water here in southeast Texas and frequently have that reddish-orange stain. I was using a Mr. Clean sponge to clean up the stain and some caulk came right up with it. Ugh.

I got to stop what I was doing to fix that issue because you don’t want water getting behind the tiles and it takes 24 hours to cure.

So I pulled out the rest of the caulk from the wall. I cleaned the area really well. I dried the area. Off to Home Depot I go for bathroom caulk. I used white because the rest of the caulk in the shower is white.

Showing the area between the drain pan and the wall tile where the caulk ripped apart and came out as I was cleaning.

I grabbed the caulk, a sponge, and a bucket of water. In the shower I go. I’m a big girl and stuffing myself into the shower stall sitting on the floor was interesting! I became an amateur contortionist for a few minutes. Noooo thank you, I’ll keep my day job!!

Piped out caulk. Wet the sponge and ran it across the caulk. Nope, don’t like it. More caulk. More water. More wiping. Nope. Made a mess. Cleaned the mess. Again. I ended up figuring out that my thumb was actually the perfect shape to run along the caulk and make it smooth.

Voila!

New caulk between the drain pan and the wall tile.

Next up is changing the flapper in the toilet tank in the master bathroom. Soon I’ll be able to call myself a plumber! 😂
